RR vs RCB IPL 2025: RCB’s star opener Phil Salt reminded everyone of Ab De Villiers by attempting one of the best catches while standing at the boundary during their IPL 2025 match against RR in Jaipur on Sunday. The incident occurred on the last ball of the 13th over during the first innings.
Krunal Pandya had aimed the ball towards the middle and off-stump and RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had smashed the ball towards deep mid-wicket and Jaiswal had mistimed the shot.
Salt, who was standing at the boundary line, was seen jumping high and trying to take the catch with both his hands. Despite timing his jump perfectly, he fell on the ropes and threw the ball out. Although Jaiswal wasn’t dismissed Salt did help RCB save five runs and that played a huge role for them during the second innings.

Holy moly! That was a superb effort by Salt.
The other RCB players need to take some inspiration from it.

This effort reminded the RCB fans of ex-RCB player Ab De Villiers, who took a brilliant one-handed catch in the IPL 2018 match against SRH.
Salt has proven his worth while playing for RCB. He has scored 143 runs after playing in five matches till now and has been brilliant while fielding even though he is a wicket-keeper.
During their IPL 2025 match against MI, he had taken a stunning catch. He threw the ball out while falling on the ropes and passed the ball to fellow teammate Tim David.
Jaiswal did get out after scoring a gritty knock of 75 runs off 47 balls and helped the hosts post a respectable target of 173/4. RCB, who will begin their innings with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt, need 174 runs to win this match at 8.7 runs per over.
