Rita Ora delivered a stunning performance on Friday night as she joined Kylie Minogue on her “Tension” tour, lighting up the atmosphere at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.
The 34-year-old “For You” hitmaker turned heads in an outfit reminiscent of a rebellious bride – a strapless white wrap dress with a ruffled bottom, giving her a bold and artistic look.
She added a thick white veil to the outfit, which covered her head and flowed over her shoulders, making the appearance even more theatrical, she writes. Dailymail.
To gain a few inches on her elegant stature, Rita chose black leather knee-high boots, which added style to the performance.
During the concert, she performed some of her most popular songs such as “Your Song” and “Let You Love Me”, but also a solo version of the emotional ballad “For You”, which she had once sung in a duet with the late Liam Payne, a member of the group “One Direction”.
After the first concert on the tour, Rita enthusiastically expressed: “The first night of the tour – the reception was incredible! I am so grateful for this opportunity to connect with the audience in North America. Opening a concert for an icon like Kylie is a huge honor.”
Rita Ora is supporting Kylie Minogue on the first leg of her tour, after an interesting detail was recently revealed: Kylie’s 2023 smash hit, “Padam Padam,” was originally intended to be given to Rita.
The electro-pop song, written by Norwegian artist Ina Wroldsen and producer Lostboy, became a viral hit for Kylie. But before she recorded it, several artists – including Rita – were approached to perform it, as it didn’t initially seem like a “typical Kylie” song.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Lostboy said: “We wrote ‘Padam’ in February 2022. After a few months, we sent it to the label and someone said: ‘Kylie would shine with this song'”.
He added that for a moment there was discussion about Rita Ora recording it, as the song was circulating among several artists within the same music company.
“They were trying to find the right voice because they weren’t sure if it would suit Kylie.”
Kylie Minogue’s “Tension” tour is set to end on August 26. After that, she will perform twice at New York’s Madison Square Garden and then at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Minogue is the best-selling Australian artist of all time, and the third-best-selling female artist in the UK. However, it is only in recent years that she has begun to gain popularity in the US, particularly after the viral success of “Padam Padam”.
In the past, Kylie has admitted that she wasn’t bothered by the lack of fame in America and enjoyed the anonymity there. But in 2023, the record label confirmed that she is now seriously focused on the American market.
The hit “Padam Padam” and the follow-up album “Tension” changed her fortunes in the US, earning her a Grammy Award, a number one spot on the Billboard “Best Electronic/Dance Albums” chart, and a prestigious residency in Las Vegas. She was also cast in the new Netflix series, “The Residence.”
In her return to acting, Kylie plays a more edgy and tough-talking version of herself in a murder mystery comedy set in the White House. /Telegraph/
