Star Wars Celebration is over – it’s time to start thinking about the next Star Wars Celebration. During Japan’s Star Wars Celebration 2025, Lucasfilm has revealed that the next Star Wars Celebration will take place April 1 through 4, 2027. This follows the two-year jump Lucasfilm has done with Star Wars Celebrations since 2017, and also brings the landmark event back to the United States for the first time since 2022.
This will also come just weeks before Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter, coming to theaters May 28, 2027.
Star Wars Celebration 2027 will take place in Los Angeles, at the LA Convention Center. This is the area where the last US-based Star Wars Celebration occurred back in 2022 (Popverse’s first con!), and will now be the third time SWC has come to the L.A. area – tying it with its number of appearances at London’s ExCel Centre.
Star Wars Celebration 2027 will take place on the 50th anniversary of when it all started – 50 years after 1977’s original Star Wars movie. We can talk about other Star Wars anniversaries to celebrate in 2027, but – really, the 50th anniversary of the first is the be-all end-all for Star Wars Celebration 2027. 2027 will be a busy year for Lucasfilm, as it will be in the wake of the release of 2026’s The Mandalorian & Grogu and in anticipation of Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy’s 2027 Star Wars movie.
Lucasfilm’s strategy of doing Star Wars Celebration every other year (opposite that of its sister show D23 Expo) means that as of now, Star Wars Celebration 2027 has no competition for big events during those dates – and also gives times for any conventions planning events near those in terms of dates or locale to shift around. Of course, you can see a list of all the major comic convention dates here.
