Julia Michaels Says ‘Yes’ in Engagement Pictures with New Fiancé

Julia Michaels is in “heaven” after her engagement!

The “Scissors” singer, 31, revealed on Friday, April 25, that she will be walking down the aisle with tattoo artist Mat Rule — and even shared a look at her new shiny engagement ring.

In an Instagram post commemorating the special moment that Michaels shared, she and Rule could be seen smiling at the camera in matching white tees as the singer held her hand up to show off her new oval-shaped engagement ring. 

She also showed a close-up of the ring, which had an oval-shaped diamond set on a simple gold band, on her finger in a follow-up photo. In the background, a hillside could be seen overlooking some mountains and a shoreline.  

“Yes to you forever and always,” she captioned the photos. “Thank you for being the most incredible man I’ve ever met. I can’t wait to marry you 🥹❤️ @matruletattoo.”

Rule reposted the photos to his Instagram Stories, along with three white heart emojis.

Michaels is no stranger to posting photos with her beau on Instagram, and has shared several photos with him over the past few years since they started dating. 

The musician revealed in an Instagram post, alongside photos of her and her fiancé at a wedding in July 2024, that the pair had been dating for “two years” at that point. In the photo, the couple could be seen smiling with their arms wrapped around each other. 

She’s shared similar loved-up photos in the past, including one of the pair on vacation in Kyoto, Japan in March 2024, as they checked out markets and temples and ate some sushi. Another sweet photo shared in January of that year showed Michaels giving Rule a kiss on the cheek.

“Tu es tres parfait ❤️🤌🏼,” she captioned the black-and-white photo. The words appeared to be directed at her boyfriend at the time, as they translated to “you are very perfect.”

In July 2023, she also wished him a “happy anniversary” alongside a photo of the pair taking a mirror selfie together, and the month prior, she shared just how happy she was with Rule alongside a snap of the pair smiling and staring at each other. 

She wrote over the picture, “Life with you ❤️🤌🏼 @matruletattoo.”
