Martha Stewart gave Kelly Clarkson the shock of her life when she revealed she’d “never” ordered a takeout meal.
The original lifestyle influencer, 83, recently shared the tidbit while appearing on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” alongside celebrity chef José Andrés to promote their upcoming NBC food competition show “Yes, Chef!”
Stewart and Andrés recalled that while shooting their series earlier this year in Toronto, they dined out together every day.
“Every night he found the next best restaurant,” Stewart said while waving her thumb in Andrés’ direction.
“I love friends like you,” Clarkson interjected.
Andrés, 55, recalled that Stewart liked to hit a few restaurants in one outing. “We will be shooting all day. I will be destroyed. I want to go to bed,” he recalled. “And she’s like, ‘OK, how many restaurants are we going tonight?'”
“Like one is not enough, Martha?” he added as audience members laughed. “I don’t know where she gets so much energy.”
Stewart acknowledged it takes a lot of energy after a 12-hour day of work to go out afterward seeking culinary adventure in a “cosmopolitan area.”
“I tried to go to every great restaurant in Toronto, and they have great restaurants,” said Stewart.
“And I go, ‘Do they deliver?'” joked Clarkson.
“You want to know a secret?” Stewart responded. “I have never ordered in. Never.”
But Clarkson had a hard time believing Stewart.
“Are you kidding me?” she responded with a skeptical look on her face.
Stewart insisted she was telling the truth and said her daughter, Alexis Stewart, 59, would “vouch” for her.
“You have never been like, ‘It’s a Taco Bell night. We’re just doing it’?” Clarkson asked, prompting more laughter from the audience.
“I’ve never ordered in!” the former “Martha Stewart Show” host responded. “I will go out, or I will not eat.”
That’s when Andrés playfully created a challenge for viewers to help him and Clarkson figure out if Martha Stewart was telling the truth.
“People of America, if you have a photo of Martha Stewart ordering in, we want to see it!” he joked as Stewart burst out laughing.
“We demand an investigation!” the chef added.
Stewart explained that takeout was just not in her DNA.
“She’s so pure,” Andrés said, causing Clarkson to clap her hands while laughing.
“Don’t you worry,” Clarkson assured Stewart at the end of the hilarious segment. “I’ve ordered in enough for the both of us.”
