ST. LOUIS – Could the St. Louis Sheriff lose the right to carry his gun? That’s one of the possible issues that could arise from a hearing Monday, in which Sheriff Alfred Montgomery must answer allegations from a former deputy.
The former deputy, Darryl Wilson, says he can’t get the sheriff to leave him alone since he left the St. Louis Sheriff’s office. It’s the same former deputy who claimed the sheriff disarmed him at an outside security job at a gas station in South City, which had nothing to do with the sheriff’s office.
Then on Wednesday, April 16, Sheriff Alfred Montgomery unexpectedly showed up at Wilson’s latest job, where he now works as a St. Louis County Court bailiff. The video, obtained exclusively by FOX 2, shows Montgomery with his security team making their way through the courthouse, all the way up to the 5th floor, where Wilson’s new boss works.
Wilson says he then got a call that his old boss Sheriff Montgomery was there, and he says he was pulled into an office with the former Sheriff. During the encounter, Wilson claims Montgomery accused him of trying to convince city workers to move over to the county.
Wilson said he already lost his job as a security guard at the gas station because the business owner didn’t want future drama with Sheriff Montgomery. Wilson now expresses concerns about potential sabotage at his new job.
A hearing in which a judge will consider a full order of protection is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday in a St. Louis County courtroom. A ruling could also impact the Sheriff’s ability to carry a gun. Typically, subjects are required to surrender their firearms, but there is often an exemption for police officers, who are sometimes required to turn in their guns before the end of each shift.
