Everything to Know About New Season

Rock the Block is back for season six, and fans have much to look forward to in the upcoming installment. This time around, HGTV’s renovation competition series, hosted by Ty Pennington, will have returning teams, blind judging, and a new location featuring properties with the biggest backyards in the series’ history. Plus, Bobby Berk makes his HGTV debut. Below, take a look at everything fans can expect in the new season.

Which HGTV Stars Are Competing in Rock the Block Season 6?

Four teams—two veteran pairs and two rookie duos—will battle it out this season. In the veteran category is Windy City Rehab star Alison Victoria and Luxe for Less designer Michel Smith Boyd. Also returning to the show is New Kids on the Block’s Jonathan Knight. He teamed up with his brother Jordan Knight, who is new to this competition series but helped Jonathan flip his property in Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp. On the rookie side are Down Home Fab stars Chelsea and Cole DeBoer, along with Renovation Aloha stars Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama.

The competition unfolds just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, where each team has a budget of $250,000 and a six-week timeframe to renovate identical modern properties. The team that gets the highest appraisal for their home wins a street named after them and bragging rights. A donation will also be made on their behalf to No Kid Hungry. According to HGTV, Rock the Block has helped the nonprofit organization provide more than 500,000 meals to kids in need.

Who Are the Judges for Rock the Block Season 6?

For the first time, Rock the Block is doing blind judging. During the two-hour season-six premiere, Bobby Berk makes his HGTV debut as judge of the first round in which the teams bring the vision for their home’s kitchen, dining, and living areas to life.

Later on, Good Bones alum Mina Starsiak Hawk and previous Rock the Block winner Jasmine Roth will blindly judge first-floor hotspots, including the entry, mudroom, powder bath, and den. Then, married interior designers Ray and Eilyn Jimenez (of HGTV’s Divided by Design and Netflix’s Designing Miami) judge the primary suite. For the second-floor bonus spaces—like the playroom, game room, office, and wellness retreat—the four Rock the Block teams will review the work of their competitors. On the lower levels, designer Kim Myles (Battle on the Mountain) will evaluate additional spaces, from a pickleball court to a home movie theater. Then Unsellable Houses stars Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis will assess the backyards and decks. In the end, Property Brothers alum Jonathan Scott will take a look at the completed homes and join Pennington to announce the winner.

How Can You Watch?

The two-hour premiere of Rock the Block airs on April 14 at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes—airing weekly on Mondays—will be available to stream the next day on Max and discovery+ beginning April 15.
