IOWA CITY — Iowa football defensive back Kahlil Tate has entered the transfer portal.
Tate didn’t appear in game action during his career with the Hawkeyes.
Tate posted the following message via social media April 16:
“First and foremost I want to thank God for the opportunity that was given to me to play this sport, I also want to thank my family for being here every step of the way. I want to thank the University of lowa and their coaching staff, strength staff, training staff for everything that they have done for me in these last two years. Also for giving me the chance to chase my dreams. To my teammates, thank you all for everything you’ve shown and helped me with. To the Doughboyz, every single last one of you have impacted me in positive ways, our brotherhood could never be broken. Love! With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility.”
A product of Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Tate was a 3-star recruit in the 2023 high school class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Tate had offers from Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan and many others before choosing the Hawkeyes.
After two seasons in the Iowa program, Tate is now in search of a new landing spot.
