Well, of course, we’re going to go after Corbin right from the start. I’d rather not invest in the lefty-on-lefty crime we will see for Nick Kurtz’ debut and Brent Rooker’s stat-lines are already pretty juiced. So when Jon Impemba hit us up with his newfound knowledge that Jacob here is the son of former Pirates star shortstop (ok, star is a bit of a stretch, but it’s tough times in Pittsburgh), I knew we needed to throw him into our Sleeper parlay.
Wilson has hit safely in five-straight games and has posted more than 1.5 HRR in four of them. He’s batting .400 with a .433 wOBA against southpaws this season and continues to impress both in the field and at the plate. We don’t need him to be a world-beater, but against Corbin, everyone is a world-beater.
I may not be the biggest Quintana fan out there, but he typically starts off the season well and is doing just that right now with just one earned run allowed over his first two starts (12.2 innings) and he’s struck out six.
Now, that isn’t the most spectacular endorsement for strikeouts here, but the Giants have been terrible at making contact against southpaws this season with a .292 wOBA and a 26.2-percent strikeout rate. If Quintana simply pounds the strike zone early, he should see enough whiffs for this to cash.
