Jay Shetty is opening up about his special role in Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker’s wedding.
While appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, April 7, the 37-year-old podcast host and former Hindu monk discussed his most recent gig as a wedding officiant — because there’s been more than one! — with Hudgens, 36, and Tucker, 28. They asked him to marry them for his role in facilitating their connection, Shetty shared.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Shetty and Joe Jonas led a remote meditation group. They weren’t planning on anything long term, he said, but the group lasted roughly 75 weeks. That’s where Hudgens and Tucker first met.
“Vanessa and Cole fell in love with each other through this Zoom,” Shetty shared.
In 2021, Hudgens told Entertainment Tonight of her and Tucker’s introduction, “Very random, yes. Zoom, you’ve got to love it.”
Hudgens and Tucker got engaged in February 2023, and the Bad Boys: Ride or Die actress told PEOPLE the proposal caught her a bit by surprise, revealing she “was bawling my eyes out” at the time. The couple later asked Shetty to officiate their wedding.

Held on Dec. 2, 2023, the pair wed in Tulum, Mexico at the Azulik City of Arts. They asked Shetty to lead a meditation during the ceremony, and that’s when a really beautiful moment took place.
“If anyone knows, Vanessa has this beautiful butterfly tattoo on her neck. And when we had our eyes closed in meditation, people afterwards told us that this butterfly had flown all over everyone,” Shetty shared on Live with Kelly and Mark.
Tucker and Hudgens welcomed their first child together in July 3, 2024 — also Tucker’s 28th birthday.
