Joshua Farmer selected by the New England Patriots in NFL Draft

Another NFL Draft, another Florida State defensive lineman making it pro, as DL Joshua Farmer was selected by the New England Patriots in the 4th round.

Farmer grew up less than an hour from Tallahassee and always knew he wanted to play at Florida State. When he reached campus, he transformed his body, gaining over 50 pounds in four seasons, turning himself from an undersized defensive lineman to an overpowering defensive tackle. In 2023, he earned second-team All-ACC and FSU’s most improved defensive player award as he recorded 32 tackles with five sacks. Last season, he also wrapped up 32 tackles with four sacks, while battling through a thumb injury that cost him practice time before the season. At 6’3’’, 305 pounds, Farmer’s size should let him see the field early in his career while he develops nuance to the rest of his game.

Farmer’s pick is as much about him as it is about his family and upbringing. The Port Saint Joe, Florida, native opened up about his difficult childhood on The Climb before the 2024 season, as he lost both of his parents at a young age. Raised by his grandmother and older sibling, Farmer was the youngest of seven, his family pushed him to reach his potential, and his hard work paid off on Friday.
