Salma Hayek might have passed on her features to her lookalike teen daughter Valentina, but the Frida actress relies on the 17-year-old’s “expert” knowledge in the beauty department. In a new interview with People published on April 20, Hayek revealed that she turns to Valentina for all of her skincare and product recommendations.
Hayek revealed that Valentina is “well-read” when it comes to beauty—and the award-winning actress is usually the one raiding her daughter’s products, not the other way around. “That one knows everything,” the star told People about the teen, whom she shares with husband François-Henri Pinault.

Hayek explained that Valentina is especially a fan of Korean skincare, sharing, “Sometimes she says, ‘I’m going to go to Koreatown to get some beauty products.’ And I’m like, ‘Get me some.’ But then I say, ‘Get me some again,’ and she brings something different. She goes, ‘No, this is the latest now. Try this.’ I don’t even know the names of the brands. But she’s obsessed.”
“She knows products that you cannot even imagine that it exists,” Hayek added. “I’m like, ‘What is that?’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, it’s a this for the … whatever.”

The actress also opened up about her own beauty journey, including getting rid of her “turkey neck” with Merz Aesthetics’ Ultherapy Prime treatment, during the interview. Hayek, who is now a global ambassador for the FDA-cleared, non-invasive lifting treatment, told People, “I do it all—but not too much of anything” when it comes to cosmetic treatments.
Valentina has been by her mom’s side at a number of fashion week shows and red carpet events, including wearing her mom’s 1997 red strapless dress to the 2023 Oscars. The teen also previously opened up about her love of all things beauty during a 2022 joint Vogue Mexico profile.

“I love makeup. I have a lot of it, but I don’t do it to be very pretty or because I want to remove imperfections,” she said in the Spanish interview. “Sometimes I don’t want to apply concealer because I think dark circles add something else. I like to wear makeup in lots of colors and, I don’t know, I like to explore it.”
Valentino also revealed that she hopes to follow in her mom’s footsteps by working in the entertainment industry. “I would like to be an actress and then a director because that is what makes sense in my head,” she told the publication. “Also, I think it must be more difficult to be a director if you don’t have experience on the other side of the screen, that could help directing.”
